Beckhoff TwinCAT is the complete PLC and Motion control runtime and development software for any PC that runs Windows NT, 2000, or XP. When coupled with Beckhoff's complete range of industrial PC's, TwinCAT becomes a very reliable and high performance controller. TwinCAT has been used in applications requiring 2 ms update for 50 axis of motion control. TwinCAT supports Profibus, Profibus MC, Devicenet, Sercos, CanOpen, Interbus, Serial, and Ethernet communications. TwinCAT also has a generic DP-RAM interface for accessing third party PC cards. TwinCAT is programed using IEC1131 programming environment. IEC1131 allows programmers maximum reuse of code and several programming languages including Ladder, Structured Text, Flow Chart, Instruction List, and Function Block Diagram. A Function from one language can be used in another language. For example, you create a complex math algorithm using structured text and then call the function using a simple to read ladder program.
