About Network Accessories

Network accessories are devices that are used to complement or enhance computer and network systems. There are many different types of network accessories. Examples include USB switches, universal serial bus (USB) drivers, serial to USB connectors, computer networking cables, and network connectors. A USB switch utilizes ports that enable the connection to other computers, thereby enabling the shared use of printers, scanners, and hard drives. A USB driver is a program designed to interface a USB switch to an operating system or other software. A serial to USB connector is a cable that converts equipment’s serial output to a USB interface. A computer networking cable is an important network accessory that is used to network two or more computers together to form simple local area networks (LANs). A network connector enables power as well as data to be supplied to devices from a single connector. Other network accessories are also commonly available.

There are many specifications that are used when producing network accessories. An example of USB switch specifications include plug and play installation, pushbutton port selection, and illuminated light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for high power and port-selection status. A USB driver can be purchased or downloaded from multiple internet resources. A USB connector is available with male connectors and female connectors. The shape of a USB connector end is generally flat or square. The two most common computer networking cables consists of an unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) network standards which are the10 Mhz 10BASE-T Ethernet and the 100Mhz 100BASE-TX fast Ethernet. The 100BASE-TX standard is rapidly becoming the predominant LAN standard. An example of a network connector includes an I2C network, 5 volt power and ground, and can be used for a non-network connection to I/O lines. Network accessories are designed and manufactured to meet most industry specifications.
