Waveguide Pressure Windows

About Waveguide Pressure Windows

Waveguide pressure windows are used to seal waveguides at high pressure and prevent contaminants from entering the system. Waveguide pressure windows are designed to isolate pressurized sections from the non-pressurized sections in the waveguide systems. There are many different types of waveguide pressure windows. Examples include standard waveguide window, double-ridged waveguide pressure windows, and solderable glass waveguide pressure windows. A standard waveguide window provides isolation between vacuum environment and normal atmosphere and is available in all recommended frequency ranges. Double-ridged waveguide pressure windows increase the power handling capacity and prevent corrosion in high humidity and dusty conditions by isolating a section of transmission line from the environment. Solderable glass waveguide pressure windows are made by hermetically sealing the glass to a frame that is soldered into a frame. Other waveguide pressure windows are commonly available.

There are several ways in which waveguide pressure windows function. Waveguide windows prevent solid or liquid contaminants from entering a waveguide system and also provide an efficient seal at high pressure of 75psi. Some examples of specifications of waveguide pressure windows include windows made of copper clad or Teflon-fiber glass, and the frequency of 2.69 to 3.95 GHz range has VSWR of 1.10 and PSIG of 20. A standard waveguide window is available in window sizes from 28 to 284. Double-ridged waveguide pressure windows are available in different frequency ranges of 18 to 40 GHz, 6.50 to 18.2 GHZ and 7.50 to 18 GHZ. The 18 to 40 GHz frequency window has VSWR of 1.20, insertion loss of 0.20 and the peak power is 3 kilowatts. Solderable glass waveguide pressure windows are one of the types of a waveguide pressure window, which has the glass side facing the high pressure side of the waveguide. These windows should not be subjected to sudden pressure changes. Waveguide pressure windows are designed and manufactured to meet most industry specifications.
